WAJ denounces assault on workers' rights

The Wisconsin Association for Justice denounces the Assembly passage of Gov. Walker's Budget Repair Bill that virtually eliminates the ability of public employees to collectively bargain.

"WAJ stands with public employees and supports their rights and efforts to fairly negotiate," said Mike End, president of the Wisconsin Association for Justice. "Public employee unions have met Governor Walker's financial requests and understand that all of us need to make sacrifices in these tough economic times for the State and nation. The employees are only asking that their right to collectively bargain not be taken away from them."

"This legislation is a power grab by Governor Walker," End said. "First Governor Walker went after the rights of injured people in Wisconsin to recover damages to help pay medical bills and hold negligent nursing homes accountable and now he is taking away rights of public employees. This is an assault on the rights of Wisconsin's citizens."

"To the Wisconsin State Senators who left the state in a show of support for their constituents and the rights of all Wisconsinites, we thank you for your courage and belief in the importance of workers' rights. Thousands of Wisconsin citizens support your efforts and thank you for standing up for the right of collective bargaining that was established in Wisconsin over 50 years ago," End said.

The Wisconsin Association for Justice stands with consumers to promote a fair and effective justice system for every citizen, not just the privileged and wealthy.
