Damages House: The Non-Economic Damages Method Sweeping the Nation

Christy Crowe Childers
Childers & McCain, LLC, Macon Georgia

Session Synopsis: For decades, trial lawyers have struggled with the same question: How do you help jurors understand the value of a human loss that cannot be measured with receipts, invoices, or spreadsheets?

In this powerful and practical presentation, nationally recognized trial lawyer and Damages House creator Christy Crowe Childers shares the non-economic damages method that lawyers across the country are using to organize evidence, prepare witnesses, craft opening statements, conduct direct examinations, and deliver memorable closings that lead to larger verdicts.

More than a visual aid, Damages House is a storytelling framework that transforms abstract concepts like pain, suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, and human harm into something jurors can see, feel, and discuss in the deliberation room.

Attendees will learn:

  • Why jurors struggle to value non-economic damages—and how to overcome that challenge
  • The psychology behind the Damages House Method
  • How to organize damages evidence room by room
  • Ways to create powerful juror epiphanies through story and universal experiences
  • How Damages House can be integrated into opening statement, witness examinations, and closing argument
  • Lessons learned from hundreds of focus groups and real-world courtroom applications
  • Recent updates and refinements to the method based on big-data jury research

Whether you are trying your first case or your fiftieth, this session will give you a fresh way to think about damages and a practical framework you can immediately put to work.

Christy Crowe Childers has been helping truck wreck victims and their families for over 20 years. After graduating first in her law school class, she formed the personal injury law firm of Childers & McCain in Macon, Georgia. She is a former Education Chair for the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys and was the first woman in Georgia NBTA Board Certified in trucking.  Christy is known as the creator of Damages House, a new damages model that concretizes non-economic damages. She and other lawyers across the country consistently get 8 figure results using her methods.

Christy also organizes adventure CLEs for women trial lawyers, called the Mother Truckers Rally. They have driven tractor trailers, gone dog sledding, landed on glaciers in helicopters in Alaska, crushed cars with excavators in Vegas, drove monster trucks, blew up a car, shot flamethrowers, and most recently they free swam will bull sharks and tiger sharks. These events are always followed by an intense day of learning next level trial tips and strategies. Christy, along with two other ladies, formed a 501(c)(3) non-profit for women trial lawyers and women in the trucking and transportation industry called Sisterhood of the 8, so that more voices may be added to the mission of creating safer roads. She and her husband have two children, Laney (17) and John (14), and a Great Pyrenees named Maggie.
